Advocacy

Both as SexSense and individual member organisations, we champion the importance of Comprehensive Sexuality Education at regional, national, and international levels.

We work to ensure that CSE is inclusive, sex-positive, and grounded in human rights. This involves developing and delivering advocacy campaigns, engaging with decision-makers, and contributing to policy processes that shape education and health systems.

By amplifying our members’ voices, we strive to influence public discourse and policy to create supportive environments for CSE.

As a network, working with others is obviously a core part of our identity. We are part of a number of other consortiums, listed below.

The Global Partnership Forum on CSE

Bringing together 75+ organisations, the Global Partnership Forum on Comprehensive Sexuality Education, co-convened by UNESCO and UNFPA, aims to advance research, promote good practice, enhance collaboration, and overcome challenges on the journey towards CSE.

The UNESCO Chair on Comprehensive Sexuality Education

The first-ever UNESCO Chair on Comprehensive Sexuality Education has officially launched in July 2025. Together with 11 organisations from around the world, and under the leadership of Prof. Kristien Michielsen (Institute For Family And Sexuality Studies, KU Leuven) and Dr. Viola N. Nyakato (Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda), we aim to strengthen the evidence base for CSE, train and support professionals and researchers, and inform policy and public discourse with science-based insights.

International Guidance Committee for a study on polarisation around sexuality education

We are part of the International Guidance Committee of the research project ‘Bridging Divides: A Systems Approach to Understanding and Addressing Polarization around Sexuality Education in Flanders’ (01/10/2024 - 30/09/2028) - led by the Institute for Family and Sexuality Studies, KU Leuven. Together with other members, we follow up on the progress of the study, ensure alignment of the research with the needs of the CSE field and provide input to the research team on the translation of research findings to policy and practices.

WHO CC on Sexuality Education

The WHO CC Expert Group on Sexuality Education is a European-based advisory body convened by the BIOEG - Federal Institute of Public Health Education (a WHO Collaborating Centre), bringing together interdisciplinary experts from institutions across Europe. In addition to promoting and strengthening sexuality education policies and practices through advocacy, resource development, and stakeholder collaboration, the group is also currently revising the European Standards on Sexuality Education.

Digital Intimacy Coalition

Founded in 2023, the Digital Intimacy Coalition brings together 47+ organisations and experts from across the digital rights and sextech community. We are united in our mission to reshape digital spaces to support privacy, diversity, and sexual expression. The alliance of advocates, educators, industry leaders, and innovators works to champion digital human rights and create safer online spaces where all identities can thrive. As part of this coalition, we fight for new policy in the digitally mediated parts of everybody’s intimate life and support ethical development of technology that truly empowers people.
